Financial Analyst
JOB SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, forecasting and reporting accurate financial information to enable effective evaluation of business performance while acting as a liaison between functional areas and the Finance department.
JOB DETAILS
Accountabilities
Reporting:
- Compile periodic Subscriber, metrics and financial reports. Provide analysis of the variance
- Deliver actuals reporting to channels and finance team, including tracking on key metrics in relation to month-end finance activities
- Analyze variances and prepare flash forecasts for respective departments
- Monitor month-end accruals and reversals process
- Prepare reports and recommendations enabling effective evaluation of business performance and decision-making in areas of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements
- Prepare reports and presentations for monthly and weekly management meetings
- Assist in periodic and ad-hoc report preparation, period analysis, and forecast/reforecast preparation
Analysis:
- Provide variance analysis on the periodic reports
- Asist the respective Business Units on Ad-hoc analysis evaluating the overall business or specific projects performance
Modeling:
- Develop, implement and use tools for managing and analyzing financial performance
- Create models and metrics to continuously improve upon forecasting of financial performance
- Assist in development of predictive models
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Level of Education
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration or economics
- Recognized accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA or equivalent)
- Proficiency in analysis and data mining using SQL is an asset
Job Related Experience
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
Skills and Background
- Ability to create complex, multi-year, financial models
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
- Familiarity with subscriber-based business
- Advanced-level skills in Microsoft Excel and Access
