Short Leave
A short-leave is a very small period of time away from work that is allowed to employees for personal matters or emergencies. Unlike statutory leave which is legally mandated and typically lasts for a long time, short leave is usually given at the discretion of the employer and may range from a few hours to a few days.
Example of Short Leave
An employee is notified of a family matter and has to leave work immediately to deal with it. They come to the supervisor and say about the condition. They ask for some time off to undertake the critical issue.
Recognizing the significance of family responsibilities, the supervisor provides the employee with short leave which will enable him/her to deal with the critical situation. The employee is thankful for their employer’s indulgence and support throughout the difficult period.
The employee thanks the company for their understanding and flexibility after the short leave upon returning to work. The employer appreciates the good health of its employee and understands that, from time to time, short leave requests may have to be accommodated to provide a supportive and compassionate working environment.
