We’re looking for a dynamic Behavioral Health Technician to support patients in mental health and substance abuse recovery. As the bridge between patients and clinical teams, you’ll provide direct care, monitor behaviors, and foster a therapeutic environment. Behavioral Health Technician Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Monitor patient behaviors and document observations for treatment plans
• Assist with daily living activities and therapeutic interventions
• Collaborate with clinicians to implement care plans and group activities
• De-escalate crises and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
• Support patients during therapy sessions, group meetings, or recreational activities
• Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Stay updated on behavioral health protocols and de-escalation techniques
• Align tasks with facility goals and patient recovery objectives
• Communicate patient progress and concerns to clinical staff

Behavioral Health Technician Qualifications and Skills

• Strong interpersonal and crisis intervention abilities
• Deep understanding of mental health and substance abuse care principles
• Excellent proficiency with EHR systems and patient documentation
• Experience in supporting patients in behavioral health settings
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
• Strong communication and empathy skills
• Patient-focused and team-oriented approach

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred
• 1+ years of experience in behavioral health, mental health, or direct care roles
• Familiarity with therapeutic techniques and patient safety protocols
• Proven ability to support patients with mental health or addiction challenges
• Certifications like CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or CBT (Certified Behavioral Health Technician) are a plus
