Headhunting

Headhunting is a type of recruitment which entails hunting for and targeting highly skilled personnel that can fill top vacancies within the organization. First of all, it means contacting and attempting to recruit individuals who may not be actively looking for new work. A headhunter, also known as an executive recruiter, is likely to use different tools like networking, referrals and research to hunt for the right candidates. These professionals succeed in identifying such individuals and talk to them directly; this happens after headhunters have presented them with different career opportunities that match their expertise and skills. In case of elite positions hiring is mostly applied for leadership positions and those requiring very specific skills where traditional recruiting strategies cannot potentially work. It is aimed at finding high-end and skilled candidates and to let organizations get the most suitable applicants that meet their requirements.

Example of Headhunting

A headhunting scenario occupies a technology company looking to fill a senior executive post in its research and development project. The HR department of the company might call up a headhunter to explore the possibility of getting more acquainted and even poaching the highly skilled employees from rival companies within the same industry or those in related industries. The headhunter would use their network and the researched list which will include potential candidates that match the job with the candidate's knowledge and experience. In the application process, they would contact prospective candidates directly and offer them a unique experience of working and leading the R&D department of the technology company. The partnership will be characterized by tailoring and thereby becoming a magnet for professionals and furnishing the firm with a high-level candidate who can spur business growth and success in the organization.
