Training Needs Analysis
Training Needs Analysis (TNA) is a structured process of finding out the difference between the skill, knowledge and competence that is necessary for good job performance and the existing capability that each employee has. TNA constitutes the assessment of training needs at individual, team, and organizational levels which focuses on determining the areas of improvement and needs of development. Through TNA, firms are able to use training programs and initiatives that are in line with their strategic targets, improve the skills of their employees, and boost their performance and productivity.
Example
A manufacturing company uses a training needs analysis to discover skill holes and training priorities among their workers. The analysis could be conducted through employee surveys, performance data reviews, and by talking to managers to find out the weak spots that could benefit from additional training and development. The company provides training on topics such as machine operation, safety procedures and quality control techniques taking into consideration the level of employees' competences and production inefficiencies. The company invests in data-informed targeted training programs which employ the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles, maximize efficiency in operations and achieve business objectives.
