We’re looking for a dynamic Sterile Processing Technician to ensure the safety and readiness of medical equipment. As the bridge between sterile tools and patient care, you’ll clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments for surgical procedures. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to infection control.

Sterile Processing Technician Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
• Inspect instruments for functionality and ensure proper assembly for use
• Collaborate with surgical teams to maintain inventory and supply readiness
• Operate sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, and monitor processes
• Document sterilization records and comply with infection control standards
• Maintain a clean and organized sterile processing department
• Stay updated on sterilization techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines
• Align tasks with hospital policies and patient safety objectives
• Communicate equipment status and issues to supervisors and clinical staff

Sterile Processing Technician Qualifications and Skills

• Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols
• Solid understanding of sterilization methods and infection control standards
• Excellent proficiency with sterilization equipment and inventory systems
• Experience in sterile processing or healthcare support roles
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a sterile processing training program preferred
• 1+ years of experience in sterile processing or related healthcare roles
• Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., AAMI, OSHA, Joint Commission)
• Proven ability to maintain sterile environments and equipment readiness
• Certifications like CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) are a plus
