About the Role

Daycare Teacher Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
• Supervise and engage children in educational and recreational play
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
• Foster emotional, cognitive, and social development
• Monitor children’s progress and communicate with parents or guardians
• Assist with meals, diapering, potty training, and hygiene routines
• Manage classroom behavior using positive discipline strategies
• Ensure compliance with childcare licensing regulations and safety procedures
• Collaborate with staff to support center-wide initiatives and events
• Attend training sessions and professional development workshops

Daycare Teacher Qualifications and Skills

• Passion for working with young children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Creativity and patience
• Understanding of early childhood education principles
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure
• Familiarity with classroom technology or childcare apps is a plus

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or equivalent preferred
• 1–2 years of experience in childcare or a daycare setting
• CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
• Background checks and state-specific clearances are required
