Doctor Assistant Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor procedures
• Record patient vitals, medical histories, and symptoms accurately
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and appointments
• Administer medications or injections as directed by physicians
• Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical equipment
• Manage patient records and schedule appointments using EHR systems
• Stay updated on clinical protocols, safety standards, and healthcare regulations
• Align tasks with practice goals and patient care standards
• Communicate patient needs and updates to physicians and staff

Doctor Assistant Qualifications and Skills

• Strong clinical and administrative abilities
• Deep understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures
• Excellent proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Experience in taking vitals and assisting with medical procedures
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• 1+ years of experience as a medical assistant or in a clinical role
• Current certification (e.g., CMA, RMA) from AAMA or AMT
• Familiarity with HIPAA and infection control standards
• Certifications in CPR or phlebotomy are a plus
